"Nicholas learns that when we take our skeletons out of our closet to dance every once in a while, we feel better about big, scary, and difficult to understand emotions."
Sophie learns that holding onto things such as jealousy, fear, and the inability to forgive ourselves and others, can become “rocks” that weigh us down. When we learn to let those things go, our emotional backpack feels much lighter, making it easier to get through the day."
What Our Readers Say
Great concept for all ages!
Dancing with the Skeletons in My Closet is a phenomenally written book that talks about the importance of getting out the "skeletons in your closet" and reducing stigma at an appropriate level for kids to understand. As a therapist and a mom, I can't love this book more!

What a Lovely Book!
This book is a lovely and enjoyable resource for our children. Research is clear that increased screen time is leaving children less able to make sense of their emotions. This book can help to overcome this problem. I love this book!

Helpful book for getting kids to open up about feelings.
Author Kate Sanders takes such a wonderful approach to helping kids feel better about things that are troubling them, and her book conveys an important message of forgiveness toward others and self. Nicely illustrated by Nikki Sanders. Highly recommend this book for children’s therapists, teachers, parents, and other caregivers.
